Major upgrades worth $5.8 million to key routes and intersections in Queensland's Surat Basin
Major road projects worth $5.8 million will begin this week on key routes and intersections in Queensland’s Surat Basin.
Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace says the projects involve sealing and widening vital regional roads, as well as safety upgrades to three key intersections.
He says $3.5 million will be spent on three intersections on Dalby-Kogan and Kogan-Condamine roads to enable safer turning movements and improved traffic flow.
“A $2.3 million project will also get under way to widen and seal various sections of Chinchilla-Tara Road and a 1.9-kilmetre section of Kogan-Condamine Road - regional links that are vital to freight transporters,” Wallace says.
“Our rural industries rely heavily on the state-controlled road network in the Surat Basin and we are delivering safer and more efficient roads to meet this demand.”
Works are expected to be completed by mid-April next year. Wallace says the intersection upgrades include reconfiguration works, dedicated east and westbound right-turn lanes, widening and sealing works and additional and updated signage.
“The upgrades to Chinchilla-Tara Road and Kogan-Condamine Road will provide a minimum road width of two three-metre lanes with one-metre sealed shoulders, along with new and improved signage,” he says.
