Traffic diversions imposed in the Sydney suburb of Redfern after a B-double fuel tanker collided with a telegraph pole

Traffic diversions have been imposed in the Sydney suburb of Redfern after a B-double fuel tanker collided with a telegraph pole.

The incident happened just before 10pm yesterday at the intersection of South Dowling Street and Cleveland Street

The male driver was uninjured.

"As a result of the collision, the intersection of South Dowling Street and Cleveland Street is closed," a police statement says.

"Diversions are in place with traffic being directed to either Dacey Avenue or Fitzroy Street."

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area if possible.
