Police reopen section of Pacific Highway to clear backlog of B-doubles stranded after fiery fatal crash

Police have reopened a section of the Pacific Highway in NSW to clear a backlog of B-doubles stranded after a fiery fatal crash today.
The highway at Warrell Park near Macksville was closed to traffic just before 4am after a truck laden with chemicals collided with a car and exploded in flames on impact.
Police have confirmed one person died in the car, but it is unclear how many people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The truck driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to hospital for observation.
The highway reopened at 9:40am for between 30 and 60 minutes to allow the B-doubles through. It has now been closed to remove the wreckage and allow police to investigate the cause of the crash.
“All other traffic, including other heavy vehicles, continues to be diverted via Upper Warrell Creek Road,” a police statement says.
“Lengthy delays are expected and motorists are urged to avoid the area or delay their travel.”
A 200 metre exclusion zone has been installed around the scene.
