Information handbook on offer for two transport awards

While a series of award handbook briefings are to take place across the country, Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO) NSW Secretary/Treasurer, Hugh McMaster believes the one in Sydney is likely to attract a bumper crowd.
McMaster believes it could be “the biggest industry event in five years”.
The only NSW briefing will be held on April 12 at Breakfast Point in the Olympic Stadium precinct between 7.30am and about 10am.
“ARTIO successfully tendered to the Fair Work Ombudsman to prepare Award information handbooks on the two major transport Awards, the Road Transport and Distribution Award 2010 and the Road Transport (Long Distance Operations) Award 2010,” McMaster says.
The grant was designed to assist the industry at large, not just members of the various Branches of ARTIO hence the open invitation to all transport operators to register to attend.
Attendees will receive these newly developed handbooks on both Modern Awards and hear a presentation from ARTIO National Industrial Relations Advisor Paul Ryan.
“The information provided by ARTIO will be of particular use to those NSW-based operators who need to understand the ramifications of transitional arrangements that arise when moving from the old state award system to these modern Awards.
“Operators who attend this briefing will leave with a much better understanding of their legal obligations under these Modern Awards and their application in their business,” McMaster says
Operators wishing to attend should register with ARTIO NSW by April 8.
