Squires gets the nod to join ATA board

The Queensland Trucking Association president has been nominated to the board of the ATA

March 30, 2011

The president of the Queensland Trucking Association plans to focus on registration charges and a carbon tax after being elected to the board of the nation’s peak lobby group.

Tim Squires, who runs Tothag Transport Group and Auto Pacific Freightlines, was elected to the Australian Trucking Association’s board during its annual general meeting today.

Squires has been the president of the QTA since 2008 and a board member of the group since 2001.

“As a member of the ATA board of management, I aim to have an input into the direction the ATA takes over the next few years,” he says.

“There is so much going on, and small to medium operators need to understand the impact that issues like registration charges and the proposed carbon tax could have if they go against us.”

Kathy Williams was re-elected unopposed as the ATA’s bean counter. David Simon of Simon’s National Carriers, Doug McMillan, Noelene Watson, Gemma Gordon and Derek Nathan were all elected un-opposed to the board.
