ARTIO to run seminars on transport Awards

The ARTIO will hold free seminars to help transport operators understand employment Awards

March 14, 2011

Transport operators struggling to understand the modern Award system are being urged to attend free sessions that will explain employers’ obligations.

The Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO) will run seminars in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane on the Road Transport and Distribution Award and the Road Transport (Long Distance Operations) Award.

The specialist industrial relations group has written handbooks on the two Awards to simplify the documents and to help employers understand their workplace obligations. Both handbooks will be distributed during the seminars.

ARTIO says the seminars are a “must attend event” for owners, directors and managers.

“The presentation will provide you with practical, easy to understand advice on these newly created modern awards,” ARTIO says.

Attendees have been asked to bring a copy of each Award to the seminar.

“You will leave this seminar with a much better understanding of these modern Awards and their application in the transport industry in general and your workplace in particular,” ARTIO says.

The Melbourne event will be held on April 5 at 29 Millers Road at Altona North from 8:30am to 10:30am.

The Sydney seminar will run for two hours from 8am at the Breakfast Point Country Club on April 12.

The BTP Technology and Conference Centre at Eight Miles Plains near Brisbane will host a seminar from 8:30am to 12pm on April 15.

Those interested in attending can book through the relevant ARTIO branches in Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania.

Those wanting more information can contact ARTIO’s liaison officer Paul Ryan on 0415 331 031.
