With vision to expand, POTA buys Troncs

P&O Trans Australia buys trucking operator Troncs to expand its presence in Queensland’s container and bulk logistics sector

P&O Trans Australia (POTA) will expand its presence in the container and bulk logistics sector in Queensland after buying well-known trucking company Troncs.

P&O Managing Director Paul Digney says the business will use the acquisition to increase operations in South East Queensland and Far North Queensland.

Troncs, which began in 1979, runs container handling, warehousing, interstate refrigerated transport, local distribution and sugar logistics services.

Troncs Executive Director Jay Stevenson will remain with the business and says the acquisition offers new opportunities for existing and potential customers.

"It will also provide the ownership structure for the next phase of the business, which is particularly important for our employees’ long term security," Stevenson says.

P&O says its first priority will be integrating the two businesses to help customers, communities and staff affected by recent flooding across Queensland.

"The union of these two businesses will provide POTA with opportunities into new markets, the ability to grow container and bulk logistics services in a range of regional areas across Queensland," Digney says.
