January 27, 2011

The founder of tanker manufacturer Tieman Industries has been recognised during Australia Day celebrations.

Neil Tieman was awarded an Order of Australia medal for services to the transport manufacturing industry since founding Tieman Industries in 1953.

Tieman began manufacturing road tankers before branching out into specialised access fitments for buses and taxis.

What started as a backyard operation in Victoria has expanded into Queensland, South Australia, NSW and Western Australia.

Tieman originally manufactured stainless steel tankers but branched out into aluminium units for fuel and chemicals. Tieman says it also has distributors in New Zealand.
