Lights on the Hill cancels its planned February truck convoy due to Queensland floods

The Lights on the Hill Trucking Memorial group has cancelled its planned truck convoy next month due to the Queensland floods.
With 75 percent of the state a disaster zone and 15 people dead, Lights on the Hill founder Kathy White says it is not the appropriate time to hold the convoy.
The convoy was due to be held on February 26.
“It is with such a heavy heart that I have decided that we need to cancel the convoy for February,” White says.
She is planning to hold it in October this year, but no date has been confirmed. The Lights on the Hill is located in the Lockyer Valley, which was devastated earlier this week from the floods.
“I found it very upsetting when I saw truck companies in Grantham and surrounds had such devastation in their yards [and] we cannot find out if they are OK, this breaks our heart,” White says.
She plans to use the convoy to raise funds for flood victims by donating a percentage of the takings from the event.
“I feel it is respectful to change the date of the convoy and hope that all the truck drivers come to the convoy in October to show their support for the Lights on the Hill and for all the flood victims,” she says.
