Metropolitan carrier Kings has added to its stable of takeovers with the purchase of Met X Transport.

The Melbourne-based express and courier company finalised the acquisition of Met X on October 11 and will integrate the business into Kings immediately.

In a company announcement to staff, Managing Director Scott Peacock writes that Met X will be based at Kings’ Notting Hill head office.

Peacock says Met X has provided dedicated vehicles to the automotive parts industry in Melbourne’s metropolitan area for the last four years.

“The Met X Transport business has an impressive customer base along with a team of dedicated, loyal and hardworking staff and sub-contractors,” he says.

Peacock says the acquisition will give Kings more clout in the metropolitan market and it will continue to eye more takeover prospects.

“We will continue to pursue other acquisition opportunities as they arise within the Australian and New Zealand metropolitan market,” Peacock says.

Kings last year took over Blue Circle Logistics in what was a major coup for the business. The deal merged the two largest metropolitan carriers in Australia.

Dominating the Melbourne market, Kings runs a national network of distribution, taxi truck and courier services with a fleet of more than 1500 dedicated and sub-contracted vehicles.

As well as Melbourne, the operator has offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
