CRT takes over IFE Bulk Solutions; expands in Qld

CRT Group seizes road transporter IFE Bulk Solutions as part of plan to expand footprint in regional Queensland

October 20, 2010

CRT Group will look to expand its presence in regional Queensland after buying Mt Isa-based road transporter IFE Bulk Solutions.

The Queensland Rail subsidiary yesterday confirmed the takeover of IFE Bulk Solutions, and CRT General Manager Richard Spall says the acquisition will allow it to target customers seeking integrated supply chain solutions.

Labelling the deal “a significant milestone”, Spall says IFE currently services QR in Mount Isa and hauls freight throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

“The acquisition allows QR National to integrate further into our customers’ supply chains, as well as open up new opportunities in the high-growth north-west minerals province,” Spall says.

As part of the deal, CRT will take on more than 20 of IFE’s prime movers. It also plans to make employment offers to current IFE staff to service the mining and resources sector.

The news follows the recent long-term, multi-million dollar contract CRT signed with Australian Vinyls Corporation.
