Public information sessions will be held on proposal to upgrade highway to allow for road train access

A public information session will be held this week on a proposal to upgrade Queensland’s Warrego Highway to allow access for road trains.
The Queensland and federal governments are planning to upgrade the route between Roma and Mitchell and will hold the session on September 24 at the Great Artesian Spa Complex in Mitchell. Once complete, the upgrade will improve access for type 2 road trains to Roma.
“The upgrade of the Warrego Highway between Roma and Mitchell is rapidly gaining momentum with construction already well underway at Amby, 20km east of Mitchell,” Transport and Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese says.
“Over the next 12 months we will progressively bring more projects on-line as we finalise design plans for the remaining sections of the upgrade.”
Queensland Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace says the information session is a good opportunity for the community to speak to the project team and gain a better understanding about the project.
“We will also have some plans on display so the community and industry can see firsthand the extent of the work that will take place,” he says.
The information session will be held from 3pm to 6pm.
