CVIAQ labels school tour a success

School tour to promote careers in the commercial vehicle industry labelled a success by the CVIAQ

September 9, 2010

The recent tour of 23 secondary schools to promote careers in the commercial vehicle industry has been labelled a success by the CVIAQ.

More than 250 students attended the tours throughout August and early September, with the CVIQ saying there was genuine interest in the events.

Companies hosting the tours included trucking manufacturers and dealerships and specialised vehicle and engine manufacturers. The CVIAQ says the number of different companies showed students the career options available in the industry.

The tours involved the host companies opening their doors to the students with company staff conducting organised tours of their premises.

Students and teachers were able to see activities involving many of the trades in the manufacturing and service and repair sectors as well as sales, spare parts and administrative operations.

Those involved included Brisbane Isuzu, MTU Detroit Diesel, Thermo King, Western Star and the Brown and Hurley Group.
