RH Taylor Trucks shuts its doors

KordaMentha appointed receivers and managers of well-known dealership R H Taylor Trucks after the company called in administrators

Iveco has called in KordaMentha to take over the running of RH Taylor Trucks after the well-known dealership closed its doors and went into voluntary administration.

The business, which has been operating in the NSW Hunter Valley for more than 60 years, put itself in administration yesterday.

RH Taylor operated Iveco dealerships in Newcastle, Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, Gosford and Scone.

David Winterbottom from KordaMentha says receivers will work with Iveco to try and keep the business running and meet customer needs.

“Iveco recognises the importance of the local regional customers and is currently exploring options to continue to operate in the region,” Winterbottom says.

A call centre has been set up for customers concerned about what the situation means for their warranties, service and contracts.

Although the truck market has suffered in recent times due to the decline in the global economy, an industry source close to the process says the appointment of KordaMentha has more to do with internal management at RH Taylor than external factors.

“It doesn’t appear to be an industry problem,” the source says.

According to the source, the former family-owned business has an estimated turnover of close to $50 million but has suffered since being bought by people with a background in the market gardening industry.

“The lack of experience in the truck industry has thrown up problems,” the source continues.

Customers with any concerns have been urged to call Iveco on 03 9238 2200.
