Australian to help launch new Volvo product


Volvo's Australian marketing manager is heading to Sweden to work on an international launch program for the company

Current Volvo Group Australia’s marketing manager, Mark Hughes, is heading to Sweden to take up a role with Volvo Trucks working on an international launch program for the company’s head office.

Hughes, who joined Volvo Australia in late 2007, says the new role came as a surprise and will be a three year secondment to the head office in Gothenburg before he returns to Australia to take up a management role.

"It is an international launch project for Volvo Trucks, I was approached from Gothenburg to take on the role as part of a global search for the candidate," Hughes says.

"My family is very excited, in fact we have just returned from a pre-assignment visit looking for a house and schools for our children."

With just weeks remaining until he leaves Australia on August 27, Hughes says he is also involved in recruiting his replacement, with the media representative role also vacant.

"For my position, we are searching for an appropriate internal candidate, who will be in the job before I leave for Sweden."
