Transport workers in demand in new financial year: Hays
Businesses will be on the hunt for transport and logistics workers in new financial year, recruitment firm says
July 8, 2010Businesses will be on the hunt for qualified transport and logistics workers in the new financial year, according to a report from recruitment firm Hays Logistics.
The July – September Quaterly Report lists inventory and demand planners, distribution centre and warehouse managers and transport planners and managers as high demand sectors of the market.
According to the report, inventory and demand planners are in high demand as businesses try to improve stock control and operational planning.
The firm expects a trend toward more transport planners and managers to increase as businesses attempt to centralise their transport strategies.
"The New Financial Year signals a fresh chapter for the local jobs market," Senior Regional Director of Hays Logistics Tim James says.
He says employers that downsized during the financial downturn are now struggling to find sufficient staff to take advantage of a recovering economy.

The number of new positions opening up means the number of workers leaving their jobs for new positions is expected to rise, James says.
"Unless employers have communicated career development plans clearly, employees are likely to question their future and begin to explore the rising number of opportunities on the market," James says.
"For employers with a strong talent pool, this means you need to do everything you can to retain your team before they seek or attract interest from outside the business."
