Carroll Logistics sells franchises to build truck fleet

Carroll Logistics seeks growth through selling franchises in a business focused on asphalt, sand and gravel

Brisbane bulk haulage firm Carroll Logistics Group is seeking growth through selling franchises in a business focused on asphalt, sand and gravel.

Carroll has 20 franchises on offer based on individual trucks and centred on Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast and to be sold in the next year.

They are being marketed through Australasian online business sales service BizOptions.com.

Carroll Logistics was not prepared to comment on the move at this stage but a BizOptions spokesman says there has been strong initial interest.

“They have taken on additional, new contracts, one starting in October and one starting after Christmas, and they want to build the fleet up to 50 trucks,” the spokesman says.

“We’ve only just started selling them but we’ve got the first four under contract and we’ll be selling 20, with Carroll Logistics hanging on to 30 with a view to franchising those down the track.”

There was caution rather than urgency in the sale, with the emphasis on attracting the right franchisee, who will be subject to a six to eight week training and induction process.

Four trucks had begun the process, with three sought by one potential franchisee.

The expansion has been driven by the surge in public works for the burgeoning southeast Queensland region but there are also opportunities for the haulage company further north, the BizOptions spokesman says.

He says the trucks involved are predominantly Kenworth twin-steer tippers.
