Motorists are being warned to expect significant delays on a section of Queensland’s Bruce Highway after a serious crash today.
In a statement, Queensland Police says two vehicles crashed south of Cardwell, which sits between Cairns and Townsville in northern part of the state.
The incident happened around 7.20am, seriously injuring the drivers.
“The Bruce Highway is currently closed to all motorists and delays are expected through out the day as the highway will closed periodically for investigations and clearing,” the statement reads.
“Motorists are urged to find alternate routes or delay travel.”
Emergency crews are currently pulling one driver from a vehicle. Both drivers expected to be airlifted to hospital.
