Qld freight facility to support mining boom

Interest is being sought for a purpose-built freight facility at Emerald which supports B-Triple access and links key mining areas

May 25, 2010

Interest is being sought for a new purpose-built freight facility at Emerald, which is tipped to become the preferred local freight provider across the Bowen Basin and Central Queensland transport routes.

The 2,000sqm facility is being custom-built for freight company NQX Freight Systems, a division of Toll Holdings, and is a significant addition to the new Centra Park industrial estate.

Queensland property developer Buildev is now seeking a buyer after successfully fully leasing the facility in a 10-year plus deal.

Buildev’s Queensland Development Director Craig Dowling says the Centra Park estate will become a new industrial hub in the major Queensland transport centre of Emerald.

“Centra Park will be the mine region’s only industrial estate that supports B-Triple access in Emerald and surrounding central Queensland areas, which presents a solid investment opportunity,” Dowling says.

He says the NQX facility – to be completed by late 2010 – allows freight-efficient transportation which is essential for the regions mining jobs.

“NQX Freight Systems will be strategically located to cater for a considerable mining freight demand created by improved accessibility in Emerald, thanks to B-Triple access and excellent road networks linking key mining areas.”

‘WORTHY INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY’

An expression of interest campaign is currently underway for the NQX facility, to close on June 16.

Dowling is encouraging interested parties to consider the value of this opportunity.

“As the only freight facility within close proximity to cater for the region’s current and future mining freight needs, we’re confident that the NXQ facility will be a coup for anyone who secures it,” he says.

“Potential purchasers can also leverage from the company’s reputable stance as part of Australia’s leading freight company, which we believe creates a worthy investment opportunity.”

Activity earmarked for the Alpha mining basin, located 200 kilometres west of Emerald, will reinforce the importance of Emerald to provide an established industrial hub to service the continuing growth of the mining industry in the Central Highlands region.

“Emerald is now seen as satellite town well placed to service Alpha’s growth, which reduces the need for industries to set up their base point in larger towns, such as Mackay and Rockhampton,” Dowling adds.

The Centra Park estate has a range of industrial lots available, sized from 2,000sqm to 2.47 hectares.
