Motorists urged to avoid section of Bruce Highway in North Queensland after fatal crash between car and truck

Motorists are being urged to avoid a section of the Bruce Highway in North Queensland after a fatal crash between a car and truck.

The highway at Tully—about 140km south of Cairns and 210km north of Townsville—is closed in both directions.

The crash occurred about 11:10am today, killing the 20-year-old female car passenger.

"The Bruce Highway and Butler Street will be closed intermittently throughout the next few hours," a police statement reads.

"Police are urging motorists to avoid the area."
