Truck driver Luke Hattersley lost his leg in an truck accident, leaving the couple facing pressure from the banks

The family of a Queensland truck driver, Luke Hattersley, whose leg was amputated by emergency services following an accident in April, is now facing dire financial pressure.
According to the driver’s wife, Jacki Hattersley, the couple’s bank is already threatening to repossess the family home. The Hattersleys are attempting to scrape together enough money to buy an artificial leg for the driver.
The accident occurred on the notorious Mount Glorious Road west of Brisbane on April 28 just after 9am. The driver failed to negotiate a bend near the summit and his loaded tipper truck ran off the right hand side of the road.
Hattersley’s leg had to be amputated while he was strung up between a tree and the truck.
The Lights On The Hill Trucking Memorial at Gatton, which has already donated $1,000 to the Hattersleys, is coordinating fund-raising efforts on the family’s behalf.
Transport companies Rocky’s Own Transport and Lindsay Australia have also donated funds.
