Wedged truck sparks bridge damage fears

Truck gets stuck under rail bridge in Brisbane, causing concerns over infrastructure damage

April 19, 2010

A truck south of Brisbane wedged itself under a rail bridge early today, sparking concerns of significant infrastructure damage.

The semi-trailer tried to go under the rail bridge at Rocklea on Sherwood Road about 6am when it became wedged.

No-one was injured but motorists were urged to avoid the area while the truck was removed and the bridge was checked for damage.

The semi-trailer was moved about 7:30am and traffic flow returned to normal.

“The bridge does not appear to be as damaged as previously stated,” a police statement reads, referring to a previous media release.
