Transport Certification Australia (TCA) has certified Perth-based BlackBox Control as the country’s fifth Intelligent Access Program (IAP) service provider.
TCA CEO Chris Koniditsiotis says the addition of the company “demonstrates the robustness of the IAP and further intensifies the competitive environment surrounding the other IAP service providers”.
Other IAP providers include Transtech Driven, Minorplanet, OmniSTAR and TCS.
BlackBox was established in 2002 as a specialist provider of telemetry and GPS tracking solutions. The company was formed from the interests of an experienced compliance-grade tracking provider and communications providers to meet the needs of customers in mining, transport and government markets in particular.
By introducing an IAP solution, BlackBox is seeking to satisfy customer demand for a one-stop supplier of a range of product options that meet the needs of a broader customer base.
Managing Director Peter Langmead says having reached the milestone, the company is now equipped to move forward as a complete provider of customised solutions for vehicle fleets right across the country.
“The team is keen to start work with Transport Certification Australia and all the jurisdictions to contribute to the success of the IAP initiative,” he says.
The IAP provides operators of heavy vehicles with improved access to Australia’s road network in return for GPS monitoring of compliance with specific access conditions.
Under the IAP, participating vehicles are monitored using telematics services with an in-vehicle unit (IVU), which is supplied by a service provider certified by TCA.
