UPDATE: Police arrest another person and lay murder charges over killing of truck driver Bob Knight

Police in NSW have arrested seven men as part of a major investigation into the fatal shooting of truck driver Bob Knight in 2009.
Detectives from the Homicide Squad and South-West Metropolitan Region swooped on two males at Greenacre just after 8pm last night and arrested another four about 6am today at Bankstown and Chipping Norton.
The two males from Greenacre, aged 25 and 32, were charged with murder and affray and will appear in court today.
The 20-year-old male from Chipping Norton and the three males from Bankstown—one only 16 years old—are expected to be charged today.
A 17-year-old man presented himself to Campsie Police Station about 12:15pm and was charged with murder and affray. He will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court tomorrow.
The 66-year-old Knight was killed on June 25 last year as he drove his B-double along Milperra Road around 10.40pm and was hit by a stray bullet from a shootout in a carpark.
Strike Force Wyndell was established to investigate the killing, and police are planning more arrests.
Knight was a popular figure in the trucking industry, and the Transport Workers Union called for donations to his family after his death.
“This is one time like this the whole industry, including employers and clients, need to stand together and assist,” TWU NSW secretary Wayne Forno said a day after the shooting.
Knight, who was a subcontractor for around 30 years with TNT, was farewelled by 1,000 mourners at his funeral in Canberra.
The linehaul operations manager of TNT, Brian Castle, knew Knight as a gentleman of the industry.
“He used to come out to the yard, get unloaded and load up again and go back down to Canberra. He was a top bloke, a real professional. He’d do anything for you,” Castle recalls.
Castle says all those at TNT who knew Knight were devastated.
“It was really hard for a lot of people to accept, myself especially because I dealt so closely with him,” he says.
