Flaming truck causes concert delays

B-double catches fire near Brisbane Entertainment Centre, delaying the start of a concert

April 1, 2010

A B-double that caught fire last night on the Gateway Motorway about 20 minutes north of Brisbane forced the delay of a music concert.

The truck caught fire just before 7pm at Boondall near the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The stricken vehicle forced the closure of one of the two northbound lanes, prompting police to request the Entertainment Centre to delay the scheduled start of a Carole King and James Taylor concert to give motorists time to get there.

Firefighters extinguished the flames, but it is not yet known what caused the fire.

The route reopened about 8:30pm. No-one was injured.
