Garbage truck crashes into a Sydney home after the driver lost control when the vehicle collided with a van

March 30, 2010

Engineers are checking structural damage of a home in Sydney’s Haberfield after a garbage truck crashed into the property early today.

The 46-year-old truck driver ploughed into the house about 1.30am after losing control of the vehicle when it collided with a van travelling the opposite direction.

A family of four escaped safely and neither driver was hurt.

A witness says the garbage truck’s steering wheel was impaled in the driver’s seat while fire-fighters at the scene do not know how he survived.
