New England Highway in NSW shut down for seven hours after ute ploughs into B-double
March 31, 2010The New England Highway at Muswellbrook in NSW was shutdown for most of yesterday after a man lost control of his ute and ploughed into a truck.
Police are currently preparing a report for the coroner on the incident, which happened about 12.10pm when the soutbound ute spun across the roadway into the oncoming B-double tipper travelling north.
The highway was closed for about seven hours and the collision caused the truck to break through a railing to fall down a steep embankment to a valley below.
The 38-year-old driver of the ute died at the scene, while the 63-year-old truck driver was taken to hospital suffering shock.
