Bridge upgrade bonus for heavy vehicles

Work to begin on upgrading bridge on Golden Highway to allow larger trucks to use it

March 25, 2010

Work will begin soon on upgrading a bridge on the Golden Highway to allow larger trucks to use it.

NSW Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport and Roads David Borger today announced funding to strengthen the Hunter River Bridge at Denman.

"This investment will allow bigger, heavier trucks to use the bridge, thereby reducing travel times between Dunedoo and Branxton in the State’s west," Borger says.

"Targeted investment like this will open more our road network to trucks, freeing up the movement of freight across the country and easing congestion in our cities."

He says the funding allocation was made after consultations with state and territory authorities as well as the trucking industry.
