January 20, 2010

A 56-year-old male truckie has been crushed to death in Sydney’s south west after the trailer he was towing rolled and landed on the roof of his cab.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon at a race track at Menangle Park.

The NSW Fire Brigade and ambulance paramedics attempted to free him but the driver died at the scene.

Rescuers were forced to use a 30 tonne crane to lift the truck to allow them to recover the body.

Investigations are still ongoing and it is unknown whether speed was a factor in the crash.
