DB Schenker awarded Gorgon logistics contract

DB Schenker wins integrated logistics contract from Chevron to service Gorgon project

DB Schenker has been awarded the international and domestic Australian integrated logistics services contract by Chevron Australia to transport material and equipment globally for the Gorgon Project.

The estimated $590 million contract for the Barrow Island LNG Plant began on September 15 and will run for four years

During that time, DB Schenker expects to move more than 2 million tonnes of freight to yards in Asia and Australia.

DB Schenker Chief Executive Ron Koehler says the contract recognises the company as leader in Australia’s energy and resource markets and project logistics sector.

“We have a successful track record in upstream and downstream oil and gas projects given our ability to deliver services on time and in budget,” Koehler says.

He says the company has a long-term commitment to its Australian client base and has invested heavily in purpose-built logistics facilities.

The company recently opened a logistics centre at the Yennora railway hub in New South Wales to cut the number of trucks on the road.

The company says it now provides more than 100,000 square metre warehouse space for customers from all industries.
