Q400 Club: MiniMovers founder speaks out

MiniMovers founder Mike O’Hagan to join Treasurer Andrew Fraser as a keynote speaker at this Friday's Q400 Club event

MiniMovers founder Mike O’Hagan will join Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development, Andrew Fraser, as a keynote speaker at The Q400 Club event to be held this Friday at Hillstone St Lucia.

Mike O’Hagan is a “been there, doing it” kind of guy. With $200 and a ute, he has grown a short-distance furniture moving business into a professionally managed enterprise that today turns over more than $30 million a year and employs in excess of 500 staff.

In recent years he has installed a professional CEO and independent board of directors to drive the business’s growth to new levels. MiniMovers now operates in Melbourne and Sydney and is soon to expand into other states.

MiniMovers has been the recipient of a number of high-profile awards including the 2000 Queensland Medium Employer of the year, 2000 Australian National Training Authority’s Australian Excellence in Training, 2003 Telstra and Queensland Government’s Small Business of the Year and 2005 Queensland Government Office of Fair Trading’s inaugural TradeSmart Consumer Award.

At this Friday’s Q400 Club he will share insights into the runaway success of MiniMovers.

Mike’s presentation will follow on from a keynote address by Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development, Andrew Fraser, on the short and medium-term outlook for the State economy in addition to his Government’s forward-looking Towards Q2 strategy and the benefits this will deliver for Queensland business community.

Importantly, this Friday’s event will mark the official launch of the 2009 Queensland 400 Survey.
