Australia's unemployment rate has risen to 5.8 percent over June, with 21,900 full-time jobs lost since May

Australia’s unemployment rate has risen to 5.8 percent over June, with 21,900 full-time jobs lost since May.

Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveal full-time employment decreased to 7.6 million, while part-time employment increased by 400 to 3.151 million.

The number of people looking for full-time work jumped by 13,000 to just over 500,000 and those looking for part-time work decreased by 5,600 to 162,100,

The male unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage point to 6.1 percent, while the female rate remained steady at 5.4 percent.

Participation fell by 0.2 percentage points to 65.3 percent.

Total unemployment is up 0.1 percentage points from May.
