McPhee’s Distribution, formerly known as McPhee’s Transport, has just opened another new warehouse and distribution centre.

The business is growing strongly, Branch Manager Michael Curran tells ATN, with two more facilities due to open in Sydney and Brisbane in the coming months.

The new Camberfield property was officially opened on February 27 by John and his son Jay McPhee, who now runs the family owned business.

“The business has doubled in size over the last three years,” Curran says.

“We are growing in all states at the moment and from an asset point of view they [McPhee’s] own most of the properties they are in”.

After TNT bought the overnight express component of the business “about four or five years ago”, the family branched into warehousing with growth still strong, despite the downturn.

“There are a lot of people in the overnight express business now but in warehousing and distribution you can be quite unique and stand out a bit.

“McPhee’s went into an arrangement with SimCorp and then toll wanted to buy that company. They came to an arrangement that Toll would buy the transport [aspect] and then three years ago we re-branded as McPhee’s Distribution,” Curran says.
