Victoria’s transport plan will be launched today, with a focus in the short-term on reducing the impact of trucks on local areas.

The $40 billion plan will outline a number of projects that will take up to four years to begin, while it is expected to priorities works at Francis Stree in Yarraville — a main through-road to Footscray.

"There will be quicker action to get freight traffic out of residential areas of the inner-west," Premier John Brumby says.

Also anticipated is the buy-up of land from Avalon Airport near Geelong for a future outer-ring road.
