Software solution to track fatigue compliance

Local IT company promises to cut red tape from driver fatigue management with GPS-based software

A local technology company says it can cut the red tape out of driver fatigue management, with a GPS-based platform that has new national regulations built into the system.

Minorplanet says its new software will reduce the compliance burden of the new fatigue laws, which are now being enforced in Victoria with other states to follow.

The system alerts both drivers and the base of potential breaches ahead of time.

Minorplanet CEO Steve Green says the software allows drivers to focus on the road and supports the accuracy of logbooks.

"The National Transport Commission's (NTC) new heavy vehicle fatigue laws are a positive step forward in improving safety on our roads, but have the potential to be a compliance nightmare for drivers and transport companies," he says.

"Sharing the compliance burden is a significant step forward and allows drivers to focus on what’s important – safe driving. It also protects them against unrealistic schedules or contracts.

"For operators it allows a more efficient use of their assets and ensure their drivers are operating within the regulatory framework."
