Global freight forwarder Skelton Tomkinson is close to acquiring Sherborne ACA.

Both companies have formed an alliance while Skelton Tomkinson works through the due diligence period on a merger or acquisition.

In the meantime, both companies will combine their national operations, which have a significant foothold in Queensland and Western Australia.

Skelton Tomkinson founder and Managing Director Brad Skelton says the agreement will fuel another growth period for his company, which has already boasts a 40 percent average annual growth rate.

"This alliance is about two of the industry’s most reputable freight forwarders coming together," Skelton says.

"Combined, we have unsurpassed experience and resources when dealing with heavy and oversized equipment, and I believe that our clients will reap the benefits of such a partnership."

Sherborne Managing Director Barry Ralston says the potential for synergies makes sense for the company’s to merge.

The acquisition would increase Skelton Tomkinson’s presence in the market, with the business already offering freight forwarding, customs consultancy, marine insurance, quarantine inspections, heavy haulage and heavy lifting.

Skelton Tomkinson is one of Australia’s largest privately owned businesses, with worldwide operations. It has offices in every Australian state, as well as in Houston, Yokohama, Amsterdam, Auckland and soon Dubai.
