Road Ahead exhibition heads to Victoria to promote safety

ATA's state-of-the-art semi-trailer to tour Goulburn Valley to promote career opportunities and road safety

Victorian school students will soon learn about the career opportunities and safety in the road transport industry as the Road Ahead travelling exhibition heads to the Goulburn Valley in Victoria.

The state-of-the-art semi-trailer is fitted with interactive displays about road safety in the trucking industry.

Australian Trucking Association (ATA) Exhibition Manager Stuart Lewis will speak to students about road safety and careers in the industry as the truck visits schools in Kyabram, Tatura, Mooroopna, Nathalia, Shepparton, Katamatite, and Numurkah and Strathmerton.

ATA Chairman Trevor Martyn says the goal of the travelling exhibition is to build on the association’s long term message of sharing the road safely.

"We are also aiming to help improve the industry through the promotion of safety and careers to school students and young people," Martyn says.

The exhibition will also be open to the public at the Goulburn Valley Road Transport Group’s Transport Safety Expo, to be held at the DECA training facility in Shepparton on October 18.

The Transport Safety Expo will include a truck parade, show and shine competition, a historical truck display and driver fatigue workshops.

The Road Ahead exhibition will travel to the schools between October 13 and October 23.

The truck has a number of interactive games, including gear changing, truck loading and 10 safety mini games.
