Young Driver of the Year Award to continue

Scania and the Australian Trucking Association announce Young Driver of the Year award will continue

Heavy vehicle manufacturer Scania and the Australian Trucking Association will again begin their search for Australia’s most talented young truck driver.

Scania and the ATA have announced the Young Australian Driver of the Year Award will continue, with the winner to be announced at the national final in October 2009.

Entries will open in May, with regional events starting in September.

Drivers from around the country will converge on Melbourne to vie for the award, which is a $220,000 Scania prime mover equipped with a Euro 5 engine.

"I am certain that in 2009 we will again attract the cream of young drivers from across Australia to take part in this very worthwhile event," Scania Australia Marketing Manager John Kananghinis says.

"I can’t think of a better way to get your career off to a flying start than to win the Young Australian Diver of the Year Award."

Kananghinis says judges will test entrants’ driving skills, their knowledge of road rules and regulations and what it takes to run a successful business.
