Truss retains transport in front bench shake-up

Nationals leader Warren Truss keeps transport portfolio but loses infrastructure as part of Turnbull's new-look front bench

Nationals leader Warren Truss has retained the transport portfolio but has lost infrastructure following the unveiling of Malcolm Turnbull’s front bench.

Truss will now cover trade as well as transport, regional development and local government.

Andrew Robb will deal with infrastructure, emissions trading and issues relating to the Council of Australian Governments (CoAG).

Julie Bishop continues in her deputy role as well as taking care of the treasury portfolio.

Turnbull named his new front bench after defeating the former leader of the Opposition, Brendan Nelson, in a tight party-room vote.

Nelson declined a role on the new-look front bench, instead opting to go to the backbenches.
