New website to beat skills demand

Queensland Government launches new website to boost attraction and retention rates in the transport and logistics industry

The Queensland Government has launched a new website to boost attraction and retention rates in the transport and logistics industry.

The Logistics Information Navigation Centre website increases accessibility to career information with the aim of educating job seekers on employment opportunities.

The new initiative is a collaborative effort between Queensland Transport, the South Australian Freight Council and the Queensland Transport and Logistics Industry.

Queensland Transport Executive Director Jack Noye says the Government has been working with the industry to develop the website to alleviate the skills shortages it is currently facing.

"With the amount of freight moved around the country expected to double by 2020, along with the global increase in demand for skills and labour, it is essential we work together to profile the industry for what it is—a dynamic and rapidly growing industry critical to the Australian economy," Noye says.

"This website highlights the magnitude of the industry and the diverse opportunities it offers for people of all ages and at all stages of their career.
