Melbourne-based carrier Extra Transport has probably been swallowed whole by Toll Holdings, but neither party will confirm it.It’s understood Extra, a port services logistics operator based near the Port of Melbourne, has been bought by the logistics giant.
But a spokesperson for Toll maintained a firm "no comment" on the deal today.
Extra Transport Managing Director Peter Ferrari tells ATN he can’t comment on the deal either.
The only clue comes from the Extra website, where the new disclaimer reads: "Toll Transport Pty Ltd trading as Extra Transport Group".
Extra is one of the largest port-based carriers in Melbourne next to Toll, with a fleet of container and specialist vehicles along with warehousing facilities.
Toll has quietly announced another company purchase, confirming it has acquired trans-Tasman freight forwarder Gluck.
The Melbourne-based company says on its website it aims to be "the dominant Australian and New Zealand-owned provider of international end-to-end supply chain solutions".
Key clients include Jeanswest, Colorado, Nylex, Nike and Quicksilver.
