The Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) has elected a new president to chair its executive committee.

Tim Squires of logistics company Kagan Brothers Consolidated was elected during the organisation's annual general meeting held today.

Squires takes over from the departing Tim Knowles, who stood aside after three years as the QTA’s president.

Squires, who before today was the vice-president, will be joined by Warwick Anderson from transport company GR George, who was elected unopposed to the vice-presidency.

Tony Mullen from SCT logistics retained his role as the treasurer of the committee. Furthermore, Morris Batzloff was re-appointed as the QTA’s auditor for the financial year.

Before stepping aside, Knowles delivered his final President’s Annual Report which outlined the QTA’s activities over the last year and what future projects the organisation will be undertaking during the 2008 financial year.

Knowles also used his presentation to praise the work of the board and to thank QTA members for their ongoing support during his three-year tenure.
