Linfox has won a major contract that substantially expands its distribution business with Coles in New South Wales and Victoria.

Chief Executive Michael Byrne says the new business delivers significant growth and is the largest contract in the company’s 52-year history.

Linfox’s distribution work for Coles will increase by 25 percent with 200 new jobs for the Asia-Pacific region’s largest privately owned logistics business.

The work with Coles includes distribution to Coles Supermarkets, Liquorland, Kmart and Target stores in both metropolitan and regional areas.

"This achievement is a tribute to our team, their excellent operational execution and Linfox’s fierce commitment to safety and supply chain innovation," Byrne says.

"The expansion highlights a 44-year partnership with Coles and a collaborative approach that ensures continuous improvement."

The contract demonstrates Coles’ confidence in Linfox, with Coles’ General Manager Supply Chain, Jim Redfern, saying "Linfox provides very good on-time delivery performance to our wide network of stores. They have always been very supportive in meeting head on the many challenges that a dynamic retail supply chain can produce."

Byrne adds the contract introduces significant innovation. "We’ll complete rolling out our online monitoring system to provide complete visibility of all deliveries in real-time. And automated SMS store-alerts will help Coles optimise their stores’ resources.

"Next-generation roll cage restraints will enable Linfox vehicles to provide primary and secondary freight, boosting supply chain efficiencies."

The expanded work in New South Wales includes metropolitan and regional distribution of frozen products, regional distribution of fresh produce and regional distribution to Liquorland stores. Regional Liquorland stores will be added to the Victorian network.
