ATA Convention award nominations close soon

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) is urging the industry to ensure they get their nominations in for the 2008 National

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) is urging the industry to ensure they get their nominations in for the 2008 National Trucking Industry Awards before the March 29 deadline.

The awards night is to be held in Canberra from May 27-30 as part of the 2008 Australian Trucking Convention.

ATA Chief Executive Stuart St Clair says the awards night offers members the chance to nominate a person or company that has made a significant contribution to the trucking industry.

St Clair says the awards will recognise the contribution operators, drivers, trainers and women make to the industry.
“I am encouraging everyone to take a look at their individual environments and think about a person or business who stands out in their mind as one who has made an exceptional contribution,” he says.
“Without these people the trucking industry would not have reached the standard that it is at today.”

The awards to be presented range from the National Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry, the National Professional Driver of the Year Award, the National Australian Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award and the Training Excellence Award.

The Goodyear Highway Heroes Award, which recognises professional drivers, and the Don Watson-ATA in Appreciation Award, presented to the individual within the industry who shows dedication to the activities of the industry network, will also be handed out on the night.

In an effort to streamline the nominating, as well as registration process, the ATA has launched a new website specifically for the 2008 Australian Trucking Convention.

St Clair says the website makes it easy for people to register for the convention because it has detailed information and clear links through to the secure online registration process.

“The website also provides a comprehensive outline of this year’s National Trucking Awards; the site displays award categories, past winners and easy access to award nomination forms for industry members,” St Clair says.

St Clair reminded those interested in attending the convention that they should register before March 28. The ATA is running an early bird offer which cuts the cost of registration. Those wanting to attend will also save more by registering online.

Those wanting to register online need to head to www.ataevents.net.au or phone Adam Stevenson on 02 6253 6925.
