The significant issues of climate change policies, infrastructure investment and regulation will be a key focus of the Annual Forum of the Australian Logistics Council (ALC) to be held in Canberra on February 14-15.
Woolworths Chief Executive Michael Luscombe will discuss how the industry can work together to achieve practical and real outcomes in relation to these issues.
In his keynote address to the forum, Luscombe will talk about meeting the challenges of a sustainable future, following Woolworths’ recent launch of its own sustainability strategy, which contains a strong focus on transport sustainability.
The Annual Forum, themed ‘Linking to the Future – Effective Global Supply Chains’, features an impressive line-up of key industry and political speakers.
They include Major General Grant Cavenagh, Commander Joint Logistics, Australian Defence Force, on the challenges of coordinating end-to-end logistics in support of the Defence mission; Grant Fenn, Executive General Manager – Freight Enterprises, Qantas Airways, on changes in the air freight industry; and Mark Rowsthorn, Managing Director of Asciano, on infrastructure and industry challenges.
Anthony Albanese, Federal Minister for Transport, has been invited to offer comment on industry performance and future challenges, as well as to respond to the new T&L National Industry Strategy, developed by the ALC, which will be launched at the forum.
Forum workshops will cover productivity, people and leadership issues, and an industry reception will be held on Thursday evening, February 14, in ANZAC Hall at the Australian War Memorial, with refreshments served under the memorial’s latest and biggest exhibit, G for George, the famous World War II Lancaster bomber.
