Skelton Trucking has settled on a new Perth yard and operations manager to drive an agressive expansion strategy in Western Australia.

Andrew Keast will lead the venture, which has been boosted by additional trucking units and cranes from the company's Brisbane-based operations.

The company has also commenced construction on a new state-of-the-art facility at Stirling Crescent and Bushmead Road in Perth.

Managing Director Brad Skelton says the company is committed to growth in the West.

"As Australia’s largest heavy haulage company we’re going to continue our expansion across Australia even more aggressively than we did in 2007," he says.

"Western Australia is an important market for us."

Skelton says the new Perth facility will mirror the company's world-class terminals in other states.

Over the past 12 months, Skelton Trucking has more than doubled the size of its trucking fleet through a series of acquisitions.

Skelton flags further acquisition announcements shortly, along with their expansion into the Mackay market.

"We’re primed for 2008," he says.

"We’ve spent a considerable time strategically positioning ourselves for this expansion both nationally and internationally as we set about becoming Australia’s largest ‘lift and shift’ provider with our freight forwarding, trucking and crane operations.

"This will be our most exciting year yet as we go from strength to strength."
