Main Roads has enforced load restrictions in flood-affected areas in Emerald to prevent further damage to already saturated roads.

Trucks allowed access to roads under normal conditions will only be able to use affected roads at 80 percent of axle loads, except steer axles which can be regulation mass.

However, all excess mass and excess dimension vehicles are restricted from state-controlled roads in the Emerald district until further notice.

Main Roads says access will be restored once floodwaters drop. The department says many road shoulders and floodways have already been damaged.
