Embattled logistics group Asciano has appointed funds manager Peter McGregor as its new commercial director.
McGregor joins Asciano from Hastings Funds Management, where he is currently the Director and Chief Operating Officer of the ASX-listed Australian Infrastructure Fund.
McGregor has also been an executive at Goldman Sachs JBWere and has over 20 years of experience in finance and infrastructure investment.
Asciano Chief Executive and Managing Director Mark Rowsthorn says McGregor has the right credentials and experience.
“He joins Asciano’s leadership team to develop and implement new strategic initiatives across the business, as well as being responsible for further enhancing key stakeholder relations.”
The move comes as Asciano battles a falling share price and prepares for a corporate restructure that could see loss-making rural rail operations closed.
The company was also forced to abandon plans for a takeover of Brambles due to its market position.
McGregor will be based in Melbourne and will commence with Asciano on February 1.
