Hyzon hints at greener waste collection vehicles this year

Hyzon Motors is focusing heavily on Australia as it plans to roll out its first hydrogen trucks down under this year

In an article on The Age earlier this week, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle manufacturer Hyzon says it plans to tow cars and potentially provide garbage collection this year to shift emissions away from diesel vehicles.

On Monday, Hyzon Motors unveiled a new 27 tonne truck at its Noble Park headquarters in Melbourne.

“We’re making it very clear that we’ve got a product now, the first product that’s been designed locally, that’s ready to go into market,” Hyzon international president John Edgley told The Age.

As one of the many start-up zero-emissions vehicle manufacturers, Hyzon Motors is out to prove that it can produce viable options in Australia.

The brand says its truck will go into commercial trials this year, with three already planned to go to an RACV-owned towing company.

The US-based manufacturer also has contracts to deliver prime movers to New South Wales’s Coregas and to Queensland’s Ark Energy while also partnering with RACV on a new manufacturing facility at its Noble Park site.
