HVIA sees Drake returned as president

Crawford is VP as Colosimo and Stavrakis depart board

Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia’s (HVIA’s) hybrid 2021 annual general meeting (AGM) featured the re-election of John Drake as president for a third term.

The meeting was held at HVIA’s Brisbane headquarters, with member primary contacts tuning in to a live broadcast from around Australia.

Having joined the board in 2017, Drake was first elected president in early 2019 following the retirement of Nathan Usher of Cummins South Pacific.

Miles Crawford of the CMV Group was elected as vice-president following the compulsory retirement of incumbent SAF Holland Australia MD Mario Colosimo.

Colosimo and Nick Stavrakis (Dana Australia) were required to retire under HVIA constitutional rules after three rotations on the board.

Both joined the board in 2015 as CVIAQ transitioned to become Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia.

“I would like to publicly thank Mario and Nick,” Drake said.

“Both Mario and Nick have served six continuous years on the HVIA board, overseeing the transition from CVIAQ to HVIA and have volunteered countless hours in the hope of assisting the broader industry.

“I thank them for their service and contribution.

“These retirements though, offer a great opportunity for board renewal, and I hope we see other industry leaders stick their hand up to ensure their big shoes are filled.”

To that end, sole nominee National Transport Insurance chief executive Tony Clark was elected unopposed to join the board.

Clark has been chair of the HVIA Executive Club since its launch in 2018.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Robert King, a partner with Cornwalls Law, specialising in employment, workplace relations and safety.

King spoke about the implications of mandatory workplace vaccinations. The presentation will be available for members shortly.
